Financial Considerations
Our Fee Structure
Our Practice is fee-for-service and fees vary depending on the type of service, its duration, and the provider contracted. Payment is expected at the time of service and we accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and Diners Club.
Working With Your Insurance Company
Health services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. Although we are considered out-of-network for all insurance carriers, most of our patients are able to obtain reimbursements from their insurance carriers. Most PPO policies will reimburse between 60-80% after your deductible is met, however, out-of-network benefits vary among carriers. Clients will receive a detailed statement with all the information needed to seek reimbursement from traditional insurers or from health care spending accounts. These statements are typically sufficient to obtain reimbursement.
Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:
- What is my deductible and has it been met?
- Do I have mental health benefits?
- How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?
- How much does my plan cover for an out-of-network provider?
- What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
- Is approval required from my primary care physician?
Why We Do Not Contract Directly with Insurance Companies
We have found that the current insurance payment system makes it impossible to devote the time necessary to fully meet our patients' needs. Insurance companies limit treatment and care options and restrict the time a physician can spend with their patients. When using the old insurance-based system, we see dozens of clients returning again and again often because they were not able to fully disclose in the time allotted, or that their problems were not solved with prescriptions alone. We have found tremendous success when combining traditional mental health care along with holistic wellness treatments.
We choose not to work directly with managed care insurance companies to ensure our clients maximum privacy and to maintain flexibility in treatment planning. This prevents managed care companies from attempting to control our patient's treatment by requiring us to provide the bare minimum of care. Our patients's overall health and well-being are our number one priority. The mission of this practice is to help patients at a deeper level than the usual brief medical encounter allows.
When reviewing the cost of services, it's helpful to consider the big picture. Think about all the out of pocket co-pays you have paid over the years for appointments and prescriptions - it adds up! A visit to our facility will provide you the treatment and the time you deserve, and you may receive reimbursement from your insurance carrier. At The Center of Integrative Health, we use all of our resources to get to the root of the issue, create healing, and give you the tools to stay well - in many cases, without needing to return to the doctor over and over. This will ultimately save you money as it reduces your future medication and co-pay expenditures.
